Bristol Circle Residence
We maintained a cool monochrome palette with antique doorknobs and light fixtures, custom steel doors and delicate wrought iron stair rails, shutters adapted from an old Paris hotel.
The rooms are intimately scaled yet grandly proportioned, and rely upon the authority of the architecture, rather than an excess of furnishings, to achieve their impact. We drew on certain of the period’s piquant architectural quirks, as with the door to the master bath, which appears to be a part of the bedroom’s paneled wall.
Furnishings maintain the spirit of simple elegance with emphasis on singularity, not excess. Though the style is Belle Epoque, the Modernist ethos of “less is more” was strongly enforced.
When I visit this villa, I think: I could live here.
