Pacific Palisades Bluff Residence
We designed a front façade of notable modesty. When one turns the corner, however, the picture changes completely: a three-story façade appears, with ample balconies and extensive glazing opening onto an unobstructed view of the Pacific.
Though it is a manorial residence, we took pains to prevent the interior from feeling overly imposing. Even large elements, like the curving stair one encounters shortly after entering, have been made as thin as possible to maintain an architectural lightness of spirit. The house is also designed to be user-friendly for busy professionals with a young family. There are also moments that are purely about delight. One of my favorites: the Roman “wave” mosaic on the curved wall of the girls’ bathroom – a colorful reference to the not-too-distant sea.
